Theme Park

The theme park owners had an issue with their fountain system throughout the theme park. The issue was, every day the park fountains are required to be activated and deactivated at the start and end of each day. This routine caused man power issues, all 15 fountains require a confined space work permit as the fountain controls are under ground. Their wish was to have a system that activated and deactivated the fountains remotely and to have a timer which would give them more control of the on/off sequencing for the fountains – especially as the on/off timings are different for weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
AMEREX Integrated Solution
AMEREX Integrated conducted a site survey of the park and located the areas in which the fountains are installed. During the survey it was the decided how and where the field nodes would be dispersed around the park to maximize the AMEREX Integrated mesh capabilities. The fountains are controlled by a touch screen display (developed specifically for this project) indicating the name and location of each fountain and a facility to activate and deactivate individual fountains, with an extra feature incorporating the capability of adjusting the timing for each fountain. The system consisted of three site controllers, fifteen field devices and fifteen repeaters. The site controllers are connected to the park’s intranet, transmitting the data from each fountain field device to the central command location.
The Results
The owner of the theme park saved time, man power resources and issuance of confined space work permits. There was no longer a need to have teams of workers activating and deactivating the fountains and the reduction in ‘red tape’ has contributed to an improved efficacy of man power usage and the operational efficiency of the park.
The owner has the facility to monitor all fifteen fountains in the park from inside or outside the park facility.
