Food Processing Plant
06/01/2016 | Food Processing
The owner of a food processing plant required a system that would monitor the temperature and humidity of their plant due to the sensitive nature of their products which are susceptible to temperature/humidity variations. The plant required a quick and easy installation with minimal cable installation due to the field devices being installed in clean areas.
AMEREX Integrated Solution
AMEREX Integrated were invited to review the plant and decided upon a course of action which would solve the plant’s requirements - monitoring humidity and temperature by using remote sensors. AMEREX Integrated conducted a site survey and provided a solution for the plant owner, whereby a site controller and four 30109 (dual analogue inputs and four digital inputs) would be installed in sensitive areas. The site controller is connected to the plant network, the humidity and temperature can be monitored and viewed via a graphical display. The installation required minimal cabling. By utilizing the local power outlets and connecting the sensors and field nodes together produced a very easy and quick installation.
The sensors were installed in four locations throughout the plant, information from the field devices are then displayed on a graphical interface indicating any changes in humidity and temperature of the particular area.
The graphical display indicates by a change of colour (green to red) if there are any potential cause for concern within the monitored areas and action can be taken to resolve the issue.
The Results
The plant owner has the ability of monitoring sensitive areas where the products are manufactured and stored. Using the system the plant operations have the facility to resolve any change in humidity and temperature quickly and effectively thereby saving any potential loss of product.
The system shall be expanded in 2017 to encompass more of the plant and thereby increasing productivity within the plant process.
