Waste Water Treatment Plant
08/01/2016 | Heavy Industry
The owner of a waste water treatment plant wished to remotely control their new Public Announcement systems installed in each of the site buildings. The PA systems are stand alone and have individual pre-recorded announcements as per building requirements. The PA systems will be connected to the AMEREX Integrated field devices and the control of the PA systems by a touch screen display. The display shall show each building location and message(s) available to the security controller in the guard house and operations in the command room. The plant owner wished to have minimal disturbance on site and therefore introducing cable trenches was to be kept at a minimum.
AMEREX Integrated Solution
AMEREX Integrated conducted a site survey of the plant and located the areas in which the field devices are to be installed. The system covers 10 buildings within the facility and a touch screen graphical display developed to control all ten of the site PA systems.
The control display is sited in the control room of the administration building where it is manned 24/7. The display indicates each building and the message(s) available for that building. A log of all calls transmitted from the control panel is stored and is available for future use. The AMEREX Integrated network comprises of one site controller located on the outside of the main control building and ten off 30109 units (4 digital outputs) which control the PA system’s announcements and/or selected alert tones.
The Results
The owner of the site had a budget of $700,000 Dollars for the project including the cost for cable installation.
The installation of the AMEREX Integrated system has saved the site owner $600,000 dollars in trenching and installation costs of a conventional PA system. The cost of our system was less than $100,000 dollars. The site owner will be expanding the system to new buildings which are currently being constructed on site.
