Hospital Helipad Monitoring

A company in Europe were awarded a contract to supply fire-fighting systems for helipads at remote hospital locations. As they are to provide warranty for the systems which are operated by others, they required a system of monitoring the fire-fighting equipment container which is located beside the helipad. They also required a communication system that would report the condition of the equipment in the fire-fighting container and if the equipment was being operated correctly as per their user manuals and guide lines.
AMEREX Integrated Solution
AMEREX Integrated was contacted by the Dutch company and requested to put forward a proposal for the above system. AMEREX Integrated devised a method of monitoring the fire-fighting equipment in the container and reporting the activity of the equipment within the container back to the control room in the company office.
The system comprised of two field device units 1 x dual analogue inputs and 4 digital inputs and 1 x single analogue inputs and 3 digital inputs, a site controller, GSM router and a graphic/logging display. The field devices monitored the fire-fighting equipment and reported the usage to the company’s control room via the site controller and the GSM router.
The Results
The company, with the new system can now extend the warranty on their equipment to five years. They can do this due to the effectiveness of AMEREX Integrated monitoring system. The equipment only sends data from the container when there has been a change of state, this change of state is logged and displayed on the graphical interface. Armed with this data the company can monitor the maintenance regime carried out by the hospital maintenance team responsible for the fire-fighting container.
