Remote Flame Detectors
11/01/2016 | Oil & Gas
AMEREX Integrated were requested to visit a refinery site to discuss the possibility of employing our remote monitoring system. The client wished to monitor flame detectors in hazardous locations. The client informed AMEREX Integrated, this project has been on hold for some considerable time due to the cost of installation and the excessive price of trenching and cabling to the remote flame detector locations.
AMEREX Integrated Solution
AMEREX Integrated developed a solar power supply unit that would drive the flame detector and the field device monitoring the flame detector. In discussions with the refinery, it was planned to deploy a number of the field devices around a localized area as a trial. This trial would give the refinery owner the opportunity to evaluate the field devices and have a better understanding of our mesh capabilities and how it could interact with other remote equipment throughout the refinery site.
The Results
This innovative solution will allow the refinery to deploy the flame detectors in remote sites without excavating the hard desert substrate. Stopping production in hazardous areas while the excavation took place would require careful and costly planning. The man hours alone would have run over budget for the project before any installation took place. AMEREX Integrated are looking to save the refinery owner 75% of the original budget costs which were $1.1 million US dollars.
