Clow hydrant standing tall after Hurricane Irma

McWane Ductile sales representation Gary Gula shared these pictures that he took when he returned home after evacuating for Hurricane Irma. This Clow hydrant was in front of the Ft. Myers, Florida winter estate of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone (Firestone being the tire guy).  Huge trees were brought down by Irma and littered the entire community.  This past Sunday there were still approximately 300,000 in the county without power (including Gary).  His power was finally restored late on Tuesday night after 10 days!

Gary remarked “It hasn’t taken long to bounce back. The mall opened mid-week with most shops and restaurants open, but there are still quite a few traffic lights, residents and schools without power.”

Gary has been using his time and tools volunteering at the local school and little league park helping the league president deliver ice to local residents and clearing trees and debris from the fields. Volunteering has paid major dividends as the school and fields had power most of the week and Gary had an unlimited supply of ice from the concession stands.
