It's a challenge to find skilled labor

One of the biggest challenges facing Tyler Pipe is the tenure of their skilled labor. In fact, 50% of the Tyler Pipe team has over 25 years of service, none more prevalent than the Maintenance Department. To try and address this issue, Tyler Pipe has partnered with Tyler Junior College who began an Industrial Maintenance Program in the Fall of 2018. On January 17th, Maintenance Superintendent Scott McCarty and Electrical Supervisor David Puckett spent an hour talking to students about the knowledge, skills and abilities that Tyler looks for when recruiting skilled trades workers.
Link Worthen, Departmental Chair and Lead Instructor of the Industrial Maintenance program remarked, “Having an employer speak to the students is gold, because they see that this is not all theory, that there are real industry jobs that will be available at the end of this 2-year educational process”
Tyler Pipe backpacks were presented to everyone in attendance in appreciation for the opportunity to introduce Tyler Pipe to these potential team members. General Manager Greg Simmons said, “This is an investment in our future.”
